How To Grow Your Hair One Inch Overnight?!

Since revamping my blog I have wanted to feature more beauty posts since I love trying out new products and new styles. One of my favourite beauty things to do is try out quirky beauty hacks that are on YouTube and Pinterest, so I thought I would start a new segment on my blog where I try and test these to see if they actually work. Today I thought I would share this hair mask that all the guru's are trying, a mask that claims to grow your hair an inch overnight (crazy right!?). I am so sceptical of masks that make such bold claims so I am going to share my honest experience and what happened to my hair.

The Actual Mask

You would think this kind of mask would involve fancy ingredients but it is simply made up of two eggs and 4 tablespoons of olive oil mixed up together. You massage it into your hair, wrap your head in clingfilm and leave in for an hour. Sounds simple? Putting the mask into your hair can be a messy ordeal and the clingfilm can feel uncomfortable after a while. I had to get my boyfriend to help me cover my hair since it is quite long already so the process took about 25 minutes.

The basic science behind this mask is that hair is mainly made up of protein, the eggs contain a lot of protein so adding extra to hair encourages it to grow!

One thing I must add if you plan on doing this mask is that it does dry your hair out, a lot of people use coconut oil after applying this but I just deep conditioned my hair. Also when washing this out, use lukewarm water otherwise you will end up scrambling the eggs in your hair which is not cute!

My Thoughts:

Did it grow an inch over night? It has definitely grown a few centimetres and it is does feel slightly thicker. On the before photo my hair was quite frizzy from the weather and the mask definitely made my hair more sleek and glossier. I think this mask works differently on different hair types, I have seen people grow up to a few inches over night with this mask, others only a centimeter. For me personally it did work and my hair feels very healthy. Since this mask is affordable to make I would recommend trying this but make sure you have a few hours free to allow it time to do it's work!

Would you try this out?

  1. I've never heard of this mask! Do you just put in on the roots of your hair as that is where any growth would come from or do you actually put it on the full length of your hair? It does sound messy and somewhat difficult to apply, especially if you have long hair. I'm not sure if I would try it or not but I'm intrigued that it seemed to cause growth for you.

  8. I don't know if the hair actually grown overnight or if the mask actually made it smoother and conditioned it and that's why it looks longer. It definitely looks healthier in the second photo though.

  10. I'm really pleased that this has worked for you. It isn't something that I would try myself as I think that it is physically impossible to grow hair to such an extent overnight. xxx

  16. Ooh how intriguing. It looks like maybe it relaxes the hair, rather than makes it actually grow? My hair is very very straight so I'd be intrigued to see what it does to mine.
